The Ministry of Labour proposed to the Thai Cabinet to host the APOSHO meeting together with the Safety and Health at Work Promotion Association (Thailand), SHAWPAT, with an aim to enhance safety and occupational health in Thailand and other countries in the Asia Pacific region. This national and international joint event was considered to be significantly important to improve the quality of life of workers who are important resource for the national development. In addition, losses resulting from occupational hazards would affect the overall economy. Therefore, this event was an opportunity for Thailand to show its potential and role in the occupational safety, health and working environment and get more internationally recognized. This APOSHO 22 Meeting was considered to be one of very successful APOSHO Meetings, as it was strongly supported by the former Secretary General, Dr. K.C.
